Start of 2025: Workshops, Celebrations, and Commitment to Life

Workshops for everyone!

We enthusiastically kick off 2025, wishing all our students a year of creativity, learning, and new projects.
Our workshops — stained glass, amigurumis, jewelry making, knitting, Ayacucho embroidery, fabric painting, leatherwork, and dressmaking — are spaces where skills grow and friendships bloom.

Celebration of International Women’s Day

On March 8 we commemorated this special day with a gathering full of joy, dancing, raffles, and karaoke.
Our teachers, students, members, and volunteers joined us, reflecting on the essential role of women in society and the complementarity with men in building a more just world.

We were accompanied by our youngest student, Mateo, who dedicated some beautiful words to us in honor of this day, as did his father who was also present.

Someone who could not be absent from this celebration was Dr. Luis Aubert, founder of the association, who over the years continues the legacy and, in memory of his mother, carries on her wish: to help vulnerable women. This is why the association is named “Elsa Rodríguez Torres (ACERTAR).” The dream of a great woman, along with our co-founders Christina Reymer and Paola Centty, has allowed us to grow and develop our potential over 12 years.

Civic Participation and Social Commitment

During March we participated in various activities promoting the value of life:

National Flag Raising

The Provincial Municipality of Arequipa, on the occasion of Day of the Unborn Child, convened associations working with pregnant women and unborn children for the raising of the national flag at our Plaza de Armas on Sunday, March 23 at 8:00 a.m.

The flag was raised by the presidents of the associations “Obstetras por la Vida-Arequipa” and us, Crea Mujer-ACERTAR, accompanying a pregnant mother.

Representatives, members, teachers, and students of both our association, as well as members of the Midwives Association with whom we have collaborated for years on women’s and children’s welfare projects, then marched together.

VI Festival of the Unborn Child

Every March 25, the Church celebrates the Feast of the Annunciation of the Lord, the day on which the archangel Gabriel announced to the Virgin Mary that God had chosen her to be the mother of Jesus. Under the motto “You were formed in silence, with light and harmony that amazes us!”, the VI Festival of the Unborn Child was held, organized by the Association of Midwives for Life – Arequipa. Approximately 100 pregnant mothers participated in this festival, receiving training on childbirth, newborn care, and breastfeeding, as well as gifts from us and other institutions.

Fair for Life and Family

With the purpose of spreading awareness of the work being carried out by organized civil society in defense of values and human rights, the Universidad Católica San Pablo organized the “Fair for Life and Family.” In this activity, institutions and organizations working with vulnerable populations — restoring the dignity of every human being — participated, including shelters for the elderly, children with special abilities, pregnant women with unexpected pregnancies, and more.

The university educational community participated massively, and many students learned about and signed up as volunteers for various associations, including ours.

The CAMs in our city — Ceprom and CAM ACERTAR (we accompany women with unexpected pregnancies) — were also present, informing about the comprehensive support we provide to pregnant women who, for various reasons, considered the possibility of abortion. By the grace of God, we are here to help them embrace the lives growing in their wombs and, by God’s grace, to meet them when they are born.

Parade for Life and Family

The largest civic mobilization in our city celebrating life and family — fundamental institutions and rights of our society — is the “Parade for Life and Family.” In Peru, the “Day of the Unborn Child” was instituted through Law No. 27654 enacted on January 23, 2002.

Every year, on the occasion of this celebration, we participate in this event, joining governmental institutions, educational institutions, authorities, parishes, movements, associations, and more. This year more than 200,000 people gathered.

There is greater joy in giving than in receiving

During March, the restaurant El Turko offered the Combo ACERTAR, donating 20% of its sales toward the purchase of diapers and wet wipes for the mothers in our AMEN (Aid for Women in Need) program.
We deeply appreciate this gesture of solidarity, which shows that businesses can also transform lives.
